Under Secretary Krach: Clean Vision for Three Seas

Clean Vision for Three Seas

Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Keith Krach
October 21, 2020

The United States congratulates the Three Seas member states on a productive virtual summit. We commend President Kersti Kaljulaid and the Estonian government for organizing this important event during complicated circumstances.

The United States stands with the Three Seas nations in charting a future based on shared democratic values, such as transparency, reciprocity, free-market principles, freedom of expression, respect for the rule of law and sovereignty of nations.

We appreciate President Kaljulaid’s vision of trusted collaboration among all Three Seas member states based on Clean Financing for Clean Infrastructure via the Clean Network and the Blue Dot Network, supported by the Three Seas Investment Fund.

The United States is committed to being a catalyst for increased investment by the Three Seas member states in their own prosperity. We reiterate our pledge of up to $1 billion toward the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund with the initial investment of $300 million.

The U.S. urges all partner countries to increase their investments in the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund. America’s goal is to help this fund reach $3.4 billion, because our countries are bound by much more than fiber optic cables, pipelines, or roads. The U.S. stands with our friends on the mighty bedrock of freedom and democracy—today and always.
