American Corner in Kuressaare

The American Corner in Kuressaare was established on April 13, 2005 as a partnership between the U.S. Embassy in Estonia and Saare County Central Library in Kuressaare.

American Corner provide information about the United States, conduct educational and cultural programs, access to English-language learning and resources, and promote interaction with alumni of U.S. universities and U.S. government exchange programs.

The Kuressaare Corner has focused its programming on English-language instruction and American culture. The Kuressaare American Corner is a useful resource for English language studies, particularly as the people in and around Kuressaare, which is located on Estonia’s largest island, do not have access to many other English language resources. The Corner also serves as a valuable tool for maintaining a connection with people living in Estonia’s outlying island communities.

The target audience for the Kuressaare Corner is youth, high school students and college students. The Kuressaare American Corner has been a reliable partner for the U.S. Embassy for the last 13 years. The U.S. Embassy in Tallinn works closely with the American Corner in order to develop creative and engaging programs that not only tell America’s story, but also help provide professional development.
