American Corner in Kuressaare

Founded in 2005 by the U.S. Embassy in Estonia and the Saare County Central Library, the American Corner in Kuressaare works to build connections between the United States and Estonians living on Saaremaa and other outlying island communities.

Throughout each year, we develop creative and engaging programs that tell America’s story, provide professional development, and enhance English-language speaking, reading, and writing skills. Some of our most popular programs include presentations for Saare County school students on various cultural topics, in-house exhibitions on different facets of U.S. history and traditions, and cooperative workshops with local tourism and culinary students.

In addition to these programs, our Corner provides access to a wide-range of English-language print and multimedia materials such as magazines, American movies, research databases, language study guides, and novels so that visitors may explore U.S. history, culture, and modern life and practice their English language at any time.
