A Women’s Leadership Development Workshop designed specifically for HIV/AIDS community leaders and activists is taking place March 15-16 at the American Space in Narva. The workshop is organized by the U.S. Embassy Tallinn and American Space in cooperation with the Office of Environment, Science, Technology, and Health at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow.
The workshop will focus on policies and strategies in the fight against HIV/AIDS, as well as women’s leadership in civil society organizations, and will include presentations from implementers, service providers, and activists from Tallinn, Narva, Sillamäe, Viljandi, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Veliky Novgorod, and Ivanovo.
This two-day workshop is an opportunity to examine current developments in the fight against HIV/AIDS in both Estonia and in Russia and to hear from local experts about the current situation related to the spread of HIV/AIDS spread in this region. It also offers a forum to share best practices on collaboration efforts between government bodies and non-governmental organizations. This gathering will be an opportunity to hear from experts and leading officials and establish contacts for further regional cooperation.
The U.S. Embassy in Tallinn has for years supported the fight against HIV/AIDS through different educational and exchange programs. Many of the workshop participants are alumni of Embassy organized programs in Estonia and the broader region.
Journalists are welcome to cover the opening day of conference, March 15 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
